Icosahedral phase formation by the primary crystallization of a Zr-Cu-Pd metallic glass

摘要
In this study, metastable I-phase was obtained on primary crystallization of Zr65Cu7.5Al7.5Ni10Pd10, Zr65Cu17.5Al7.5Pd10, Zr65Cu15Ni10Pd10, Zr65Cu25Pd10, Zr70Cu10Ni13Pd7 and Zr70Cu23Pd7 metallic glasses. It was found that Ni and Al are not essential for the formation of I-phase in the presence of Pd in Zr based alloys. Further, the I-phase was more stable when the Zr concentration of the alloy is 70%.
