Unraveling chromosome movements in vivo is indispensable for understanding the functional architecture of the nucleus and its relationship to the functional state of the cell. New experimental approaches have now made it possible to monitor chromosome dynamics within the nuclei of living cells. (C) Current Biology Ltd ISSN 0960-9822.
