Fabrication and characterization of microwave sintered β"-Al2O3 tubes

摘要
Microwave sintered small beta alumina tubes, made from cold isostatic pressing (CIP) of spray dried beta alumina powder, were characterized. The tubes were sintered for different microwave power level and power schedule in an attempt to optimize the sintering conditions to obtain preferred β″ phase with improved microstructure. The beta alumina tubes, having desired β″ phase with improved microstructure, were fabricated by microwave sintering at about 200 °C lower sintering temperatures in about 20 hours less time compared to conventional sintering.
