摘要
A review of the literature providing radiocarbon-dated localities for mammoths provides a range of temporal and geographic distribution for the genus in North America. The review includes Alaska, Canada, the United States, and Mexico, whereas other studies have concentrated only on the United States. Maps of 5000 year intervals illustrate the range of mammoths in the continent, through time. The post-glacial interval has the highest frequency of dated localities, in part due to the interest in the potential for human association. This interval also records the greatest geographic distribution of the genus in North America. (C) 2004 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
