摘要
The paper evaluates the phenomenon of knowledge management (KM) and its relationship to the artificial intelligence (AI) technologies of knowledge-based systems, case-based reasoning and neural networks. A knowledge value-chain (KVC) concept is established and developed into a closed loop knowledge activity cycle. This is then linked to Nonaka's knowledge spiral and related concepts. Using this framework, applied within the context of the core business processes underpinning a contemporary 'knowledge company' that is operating at the forefront of computer networking technology, the potential application of Al is investigated. The study thereby illustrates both the potential and the limitations of AI technologies in terms of their capability to support the KM process. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
