摘要：

Variability within a class of target vehicles seriously impacts the performance of a target recognition system. Ln this paper we present two main ideas about handling the intra-class variability. First, we develop a metric to quantify and understand the extent of variability within a class and second, Ne examine the class of T-72 tanks from the the MSTAR public release data sets and attempt to make templates representative of the whole class.
