Pathogenesis of osteoporosis

摘要
This review summarizes some of the key mechanisms that may contribute to low bone mass and fragility and provides references to some of the recently identified pathways. The specific pathogenetic mechanisms in osteoporosis are poorly understood. Multiple pathways can lead to bone fragility, hence there are likely to be many different ways that osteoporosis can develop. We focus on the systemic and local factors that regulate bone remodeling and their potential roles in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis.
