No influence after various exposure times on the biotransformation rate constants of benzo(a)anthracene in fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas)

摘要
To determine whether or not biotransformation rates of PAH are influenced by induction of enzymes, fathead minnows were exposed to benzo(a)anthracene (B(a)A) in water for various exposure times followed by an elimination period. After exposure for between 5 and 336 h no significant differences between elimination rate constants (mean 1.53 +/- 0.18 d(-1)) were found. From this finding it is concluded that induction of biotransformation of waterborne B(a)A does not occur in fathead minnow. In addition, for B(a)A a bioconcentration factor of 260 1 kg(-1) was found.
