Scoping study on business process reengineering: towards successful IT application

摘要
Findings of a UK study of business process reengineering (BPR) practice are reported. They show that seldom have BPR concepts been adopted in the manner defined by theoreticians. rather, following consultation with management consultants, systems integrators, system vendors and end-user manufacturers, a number of major barriers were identified. The study found general agreement that project timescales need to be significantly reduced. There was also general agreement that BPR needs to be achieved through conceptualizing holistically, whilst acting incrementally. Finally a BPR research agenda was identified.
