High speed optical network for asynchronous multiuser access applying periodic spectral coding of broadband sources

摘要
The authors experimentally demonstrate robust asynchronous optical multiuser access using spectrally encoded broadband sources. In a system experiment, four transmitters operate simultaneously at 155.52 and 77.76Mbit/s in an optically amplified tree network with standard singlemode fibres. A BER of 10(-10) is achieved without an error floor using a tunable balanced receiver. This technique is suitable for application in arbitrary fibre network architectures.
