Study of inhomogeneities in the flux density distribution of big monolithic (RE)Ba2Cu3O7-δ melt-textured superconductors

We investigate the accuracy of Hall probe scanning in the analysis of current limiting effects in big melt-textured monoliths. The flux density distribution is measured on samples with homogeneous or inhomogeneous trapped field profiles prior to and after neutron irradiation. The influence of different current limitations on the trapped field is assessed by comparing the trapped field profiles measured on the big monoliths with the trapped field profiles calculated from the critical current densities measured in small reference samples.
