Moving crack in piezoelectric ceramic strip under anti-plane shear loading

A theoretical analysis was performed for a Griffith crack moving with constant velocity in a PZT-5H piezoelectric ceramic strip, with electrically continuous crack surface condition, under the combined out-of-plane mechanical and in-plane electrical loads. Fourier transforms were used to reduce the problem to two pairs of dual integral equations which were then expressed to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The field intensity factors were determined theoretically. Only the mechanical energy release rate was considered in the fracture criterion for the crack moving with constant velocity in a piezoelectric material.
