In this issue of Structure, Pullen et al. (2004) describe the crystal structure of the Ser/Thr protein phosphatase PstP from Mycobacterium, tuberculosis, opening new perspectives to understand the putative roles of "eukaryotic-like" signaling elements in bacteria.
