Instabilities in numerical simulations of dispersed two-phase flow

摘要
Motivated by the application of Lagrangian tracking of bubbles to the numerical simulation of bubble column reactors, the stability properties of the fixed points of the discretized particle motion equation were studied. It was demonstrated that iterating the map induced by standard numerical schemes to solve the bubble momentum equation may result to artificial oscillations up to chaotic behavior in the time series of the bubble velocity.
