Observation of high-order motional resonances of an ion cloud in a Paul trap

摘要
In this paper we present experimental results on motional resonances of an ion cloud in a Paul trap at high-order motional oscillation modes m Omega +/- nw omega(z(r)). High-order resonances up to m = 4 are obtained, and very narrow collective resonances are observed at fundamental modes (omega(Z), omega(r)), parametric modes (second harmonic 2 omega(Z), 2 omega(r)) and high-order-combined modes (m Omega +/- n omega(Z), m Omega +/- n omega(r), m greater than or equal to 1, n = 1, 2).
