The Rab family of small GTP-binding proteins has long been implicated in the docking and fusion of transport vesicles with their target membranes. Recent evidence, however, suggests that some Rabs may play an additional role in transport Vesicle formation. (C) Current Biology Ltd ISSN 0960-9822.
