摘要
Despite its obvious advantage of low cost, safety and portability compared to other techniques, and its independence from ionizing radiation, electric impedance tomography (EIT) has not yet been adopted as a routine diagnostic tool due to some reasons. Many researchers are reluctant to invest considerable time and resources on clinical validation of the technology which is in a state of rapid development. Moreover, EIT's spatial resolution is relatively poor compared to that of other techniques and its images show considerable inter-subject variability. It is likely that multiple-frequency imaging will allow to distinguish between different tissue types in the same subject, improving the range of the technology's applications.
