Diaquabis(2-pyridinecarboxylato-N,O)-manganese(II)

In the title compound, [Mn(C6H4NO2)(2)(H2O)(2)], the Mn-II atom has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry defined by two N atoms of the pyridine rings, two O atoms of the carboxylate groups and two O atoms of the water molecules; all of the corresponding pairs of the ligand atoms lie in cis positions. The carboxylate group is nearly coplanar with the pyridine ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular O-H ... O hydrogen bonds involving all water H atoms and the carboxylato groups.
