Investigation of the synthesis and hydrogenation dehydrogenation characteristics of the composite material Mg-chi wt%CFMmNi(5)

摘要
We have investigated the synthesis, structural characterisation and hydrogenation behaviour of the composite ahoy Mg-x wt% CFMmNi(5). It has been found that the composite material corresponding to Mg-30 wt% CFMmNi(5) has a storage capacity of similar to 5.6 wt% at similar to 500 degrees C; this storage capacity is one of the highest reported for any known hydrogen storage material. The composite material also exhibits fast hydriding kinetics (similar to 140 cm(3)/min). Explorations of structural/microstructural characteristics of the as synthesized and hydrogenated materials reveal that the improved storage capacity and rate of desorption may be due to its multi-phasic nature and the availability of free nickel at the surface.
