Investigation of corrosion protection of iron by polyaniline blend coatings

摘要
The polyaniline(PANI) blends were made by adding polyaniline protonated with camphorsulfonic acid(PANI-CSA), dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid(PANI-DBSA) in polymethylmetacylate(PMMA) and epoxy, respectively. Poly-o-ethoxyaniline(PEtOAN) doped with HCl(PEtOAN-Cl), HNO3(PEtOAN-NO3), and HBF4(PEtOAN-BF4) in water soluble epoxy(WSE) was also prepared for protective coating on iron surface. The protective properties of the PANI/PMMA, PANI/epoxy and PEtOAN/WSE blend coatings on pure iron have been studied in 3 wt.% NaCl solution by potentiodynamic polarization measurements and open circuit potential measurements. It has been found that the coatings containing PANI and PEtOAN showed better corrosion protection in 3 wt.% NaCl solution than the single component coatings such as epoxy, PMMA or WSE.
