With the onset of managed care environments, capitation has turned revenue centers into cost centers. As a result, total rethinking of all aspects of the care delivery system is necessary in order to increase efficiency and productivity in the operating room. Automation tools and management information are essential components of the operation and implementation of these changes in health care.
