摘要
An intelligent tutoring system, called AutoTutor, has been proposed to process affective and cognitive states of students. The new intelligent tutoring system is a fully automated computer tutor that simulates human tutors and converses with students in natural language. It helps students learn Newtonian Physics and computer literacy topics, by presenting challenging problems from a curriculum script and engaging students in a mixed-initiative dialogue, to construct an answer. It also gives feedback on student entries, encourages the student for more information, fill in missing words, give hints, fills in missing information with assertions, identifies, and corrects wrong ideas. It also performs an affect-sensitive tutorial interaction, engaging the tutor and learner in an affective loop.
