摘要
It is found that the atmospheric neutrino mixing angle of theta(atm) is determined to be tan theta(atm) = Im(B)/Im(C) for B = M-nuenumu and C = M-nuenutau, where M-ij is the ij element of (MnuMnu)-M-dagger with M-nu as a complex symmetric neutrino mass matrix in the (nu(e), nu(mu), nu(tau))-basis. Another mixing angle, theta(13), defined as U-e3 = sin theta(13)e(-idelta) is subject to the condition: tan 2theta(13) proportional to \sin theta(atm) B + cos theta(atm) C\ and the CP-violating Dirac phase of delta is identical to the phase of sin theta(atm) B* + cos theta(atm) C*. The smallest value of \sin theta(13)\ is achieved at tan theta(atm) = -Re(C)/Re(B) that yields the maximal CP-violation and that implies C = -kappaB* for the maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing of tan theta(atm) = kappa = +/-1. The generic smallness of \sin theta(13)\ can be ascribed to the tiny violation of the electron number conservation. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
