Deuteration induced phase transition in hydrogen bond

摘要
The phase transition induced by deuteration of an isolated hydrogen bond is investigated by quantum-mechanical analysis of a model lattice composed of many hydrogen-bonded dimers. When the lattice constant and hydrogen bond length are in a certain domain, deuteration of hydrogen bonds induces a phase transition from paraelectric to ferro/antiferroelectric state and its transition temperature can be as high as 100 K. This model calculation agrees well with reported experimental results. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
