摘要
The standardization initiatives of IEEE 802.16 Working Group on Broadband Wireless Access Standards has led to the commercial success of WiMAX cellular mobile systems. The Working Group has provided new business opportunities in point-to-multipoint (P-MP) broadband wireless access (BWA) systems that is benefited by standardization. The 2007 IEEE Radio Wireless Symposium (RWS 2007) focused on the broadband capabilities of WiMAX, derived from a carrier-class fixed BWA version with higher-broadband objectives than 3D. WiMAX is also focused to be recognized as a member of IMT-2000 radio interfaces, to increase its business opportunities. IEEE 802.16 has also approved project authorization report (PAR) to meet the cellular layer requirements of IMT-Advanced next-generation mobile networks. IEEE 802.16 Working Group is significant for higher-broadband capabilities of mobile WiMAX through standardization.
