摘要
The D-Glucarate ligand is a representative of the alpha-hydroxycarboxylates obtained by direct oxidation of sugar. The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of the title compound, CuC6H8O6, 4H(2)O is described. Quite different from the very common square planar coordination of copper derivatives of carboxylates, the main features are the linear stacking with ligands in an extended geometry and a noticeable distorsion around the metal centre accounted for by the intra-ligand interactions. These are confirmed by the IR spectra on which the carboxylate stretching vibrations denote unequivalent binding to copper. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
