摘要
This article discusses the meaning of international competitiveness in the context of the insurance industry (both life and non-life). Measures based on the 'revealed comparative advantage' and other approaches are derived and used to I nnk the EU national insurance industries in terms of their competitiveness. The main findings are that the UK, France nor: the Netherlands currently have the most competitive insurance industries, but gains in marker shares among the 'southern' European stares of Spain, Italy and Portugal suggest that these countries may have higher rankings in the future.
