High temperature compressive mechanical behavior of biomorphic silicon carbide ceramics

摘要
A carbon preform was generated by the pyrolysis of wood. This approach introduced two beneficial factors: the versatility of for the fabrication of complex shapes, and the high strength and toughness associated with the fibrous nature of the wood. The natural interior channels of the wood allowed the infiltration of silicon, and resulted in a tangle of SiC fibers after the reaction with carbon.
