Flexible Multibody Systems with Large Deformations and Nonlinear Structural Damping Using Absolute Nodal Coordinates

A formulation for flexible Multibody Systems (MBS) is proposed where flexible bodies are described using absolute coordinates forisoparametric hexagonal elements under consideration of nonlinearstructural damping.The use of absolute coordinates together with a nonlinear finite-element formulation allows for large deformations andprovides an accurate description of rigid bodymotion and inertia in the case of large rotations without additionalconsiderations. Further, constant mass matrices are obtained for isoparametric elements.
