摘要
Bowen disease - a squamous cell carcinoma in situ - is associated with oncogenic human papilloma viruses (HPV). The association is best established for genital Bowen disease but also holds for extragenital lesions. The immunomodulatory substance imiquimod is used for the treatment of HPV-induced skin disorders. In the case of paraungual Bowen disease, established treatment options as excision, cryosurgery, radiotherapy or laser treatment might cause persistent nail damage. We successfully treated HPV73-positive Bowen disease in this location with topical imiquimod. © Springer Medizin Verlag 2005.
