摘要
This paper is what might be called 'applied philosophy of science'. I adopt the '(transcendental) realism' of Roy Bhaskar, which argues that, in general, sciences aim at explanation, not prediction. From this viewpoint I analyze and criticize Sperber and Wilson (1986), and try to distinguish between two aspects of linguistic pragmatics: one abstract and 'theoretical'; the other 'real-world' and applied.
