摘要
In situ a.c. impedance measurements have been carried out to study the electrical properties of the oxide films formed on as-received Zircaloy-4 exposed to steam at 500-degrees-C and 650 psi. A two-electrode configuration, in which Zircaloy-4 and a spring loaded graphite are the electrodes, is used for studying interfacial impedance as a function of frequency in steam. The Nyquist plots show that the impedance spectrum of a shiny black zirconium oxide surface was represented by a high frequency semicircle as expected for charge transfer through a resistive film. The development of unreliable in situ measurements may be an indication of the onset of nodule formation.
