摘要
:
Phenolic acids and tannins are known to inhibit protein degradation in soils. This study describes the effects of some of these compounds on the activity of the extracellular proteinase enzyme of an ericoid endophyte, and upon growth and protein utilisation by the fungus itself. The endophyte is shown to be capable of mobilising nitrogen from proteins even in solutions containing phenolic compounds. The possible ecological significance of these observations is discussed. © 1990.
