ELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYANILINE IN HIGHLY CONCENTRATED ACIDS

摘要
An electrochemical pulse method for the synthesis of polyaniline thin films stable in concentrated sulfuric acid is suggested. Transition from diluted to concentrated 9 - 12 M sulfuric acid solutions is shown to result in an increase of the Ha/Hc peak ratio (equal to 3) and an extreme narrowing of the anode peak (up to 35 mV at half height). The data obtained have been interpreted as revealing a transition, characterized by the transfer coefficient α = 0.75 and the two-electron elementary stage, into a kinetic region. It was found that the polyaniline redox potential rises sharply at -Ho ≈ 5, which may probably be assigned to polymer dehydration in concentrated acids. © 1990.
