FERROELASTIC PHASE-TRANSITION IN UNIVALENT MERCURY HALIDES IN VICINITY OF TRICRITICAL POINT

摘要
The paper presents the results of comprehensive investigation of ferroelastic phase transition in the univalent mercury halides. The experimental data on specific heat, spontaneous strain, soft mode Raman spectra have been obtained using precise methods and high-quality crystals. The critical exponents are determined which obviously show that studied crystals undergo the phase transition in vicinity of tricritical point. The phase transition is described in framework of Landau theory using thermodynamic potential which includes six order terms. The parameters of potential are evaluated on the base of obtained experimental data. Proposed model of phase transition allows to explain and accord all experimental results obtained for univalent mercury halides.
