We have developed a technique for growing unsaturated films of3He. Using this technique, films with thicknesses between 100 and 1500 Å were grown on a copper disk comprising the moment of a torsional oscillator. The films were thermally cycled between 0.35 and 100 mK over the course of several days and were found to be stable within 40 Å. © 1990 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
