摘要
An Al-5Mg alloy reinforced with 5 vol.% Saffil(TM) and 15 vol.% SiC was machined using cemented carbide, ceramic and polycrystalline diamond (PCD) cutting tools. PCD, with its high resistance to abrasion wear, was clearly superior to the other tool materials in terms of tool life and maximum metal removal rate. Overall, the best surface finish was also obtained using PCD.
