摘要
Neutron scattering techniques have been used to study the effect of quantum fluctuations on the excitation spectrum of the S = 1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chains in KCuF3. The experiments were performed using the MARI time-of-flight spectrometer on the ISIS pulsed source at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The results show that at low temperatures there is a continuum of excitations well described by the ansatz of Muller et al. On heating the low energy part of the spectrum evolves as predicted by a continuum theory for the excitations, but more work is needed to develop a full temperature dependent theory.
