摘要：

Different types of newly developed sediment samplers were investigated according to their suitability for operation in sewers and their ability to obtain representative sediment samples. The sediment shovel offers good practicability in small to medium sized sewers. Particles of small size and small specific gravity tend to be washed out while lifting the shovel. Considering these characteristics the sediment shovel is a useful tool for survey investigations focusing operational problems caused by sediments. The cryogenic sediment sampler is complicated to use but it offers the opportunity to get nearly undisturbed samples out of even big sized sewers with high sediment levels. A minimum sediment level of approximately 10 cm is needed. This type of sampler is well applied to special problems concerning either the quality of sediments in different heights or the sampling in big sized sewers. Another type of sampler is described but cannot be recommended for use in sewers.
