CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF POTASSIUM TETRAETHINYLZINCATE AND CADMATE

The crystal structures of K2[M(C2H)4] (M = Zn, Cd) have been determined from X-ray powder data. They form tetragonal lattices (space group I 41/a) containing four formula units with isolated tetrahedral [M(C2H)4] groups. These latter are furthermore surrounded by six potassium ions in a distorted octahedral array with almost equal distances to the four carbon atoms of the two nearest acetylenic groups. © 1968.
