摘要
A rough set theory is an uncertainty calculus. It is based on definitions of upper approximation (envelope) and lower approximation (core) of concepts. A "difference" between envelope and core can represent a reliability ignorance. This description is not information intensive and therefore highly useful for some reliability studies. A simple example is based on purely symbolic reliability knowledge.
