摘要
A study was conducted to observe the effects of lead, cadmium and zinc on stem cell elongation and electric membrane potential at the xylem/symplast interface when varying concentrations of lead, cadmium and zinc were perfused into the xylem of the stem segment of Impatiens balsamina seedlings. Lead (0.5 mM), cadmium (0.1 mM) and zinc (0.5 mM) were found to suppress stem cell elongation but 0.2 mM of lead and 1 mM of cadmium also depolarized the respiration-dependent component of the membrane's electric potential. A high concentration of lead (0.5 mM) also depolarized the diffusion potential across the cell membrane. No recovery from the inhibitory effect of cadmium on cell elongation and membrane electric potential was noticed when cadmium was removed from the perfusion medium for nearly 6 hr in contrast to the inhibitory effect of lead and zinc. The order of toxicity for the three divalent cations was: cadmium > lead > zinc.
