PROXIMITY EFFECT IN NBN-LA1-XCAXMNOZ MAGNETIC OXIDE-NBN COPLANAR-TYPE JUNCTION

A coplanar-type NbN-La1-xCaxMnOz (x = 0.23)-NbN junction was fabricated on MgO(100) single-crystal substrates by means of electron-beam lithography and the argon ion-beam milling method, and the junction characteristics were measured. The spacing between the NbN electrodes is 0.25-mu-m and the junction width is 100-mu-m. Nonlinearity in the current-voltage characteristics is observed below 6 K, and supercurrent through the junction is observed below 3 K. These results indicate the possibility of a novel proximity effect in the junctions of the combination of NbN and La1-xCaxMnOz as well as for that of Y1Ba2Cu3Oy and La1-xCaxMnOz.
