ELECTRICAL AND OPTICAL-PROPERTIES OF HEXAMETHYLENETETRATELLURAFULVALENE CRYSTALS AND THEIR PRESSURE-DEPENDENCE

摘要
The d.c. electrical conductivity of single crystals of hexamethylenetetratellurafulvalene (HMTTeF) is found to average 2 x 10(-4) S cm-1 which is the highest reported to date in single-component organic conductors. Intermolecular Te-Te contacts in the crystal are responsible for the high conductivity and dominate the electronic absorption spectra and the resonance Raman effect. Pressure dependence of the conductivity as well as the IR and Raman peak frequencies has revealed a pressure-induced phase transition at c. 5 kbar.
