CORRUGATION OF THE RECONSTRUCTED PT(100) SURFACE - A HELIUM DIFFRACTION STUDY

摘要
Unusually intense helium beam diffraction features are observed along the [011BAR] direction from the Pt{100}-hex-R0.7-degrees surface. The diffraction beams are in close agreement with published LEED data, and analysis of the intensities at two different helium beam wavelengths (1.10 and 0.62 angstrom), based on a buckled two-dimensional structure of the surface obtained from LEED, provides energy-dependent maximum corrugation amplitudes of 0.50 and 0.75 angstrom, respectively, for top layer atoms in this reconstructed surface.
