摘要
The lattice formulation of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) uses very large matrices (similar to 10(6) X 10(6) or larger). Certain linear combinations of inverse matrix elements have physical interest. Unfortunately, these matrices cannot be inverted exactly with current computers and algorithms. However, it is possible to estimate linear combinations of lattice QCD matrix elements, using Monte Carlo methods. In this paper we introduce these methods, give variances for the estimates obtained, and show how the method can be enhanced to reduce the variances of the estimates. Numerical results are given for randomly-generated matrices which simulate QCD matrices.
