A NEW TRANSPORT DETECTOR FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY BASED ON THERMOSPRAY VAPORIZATION

摘要
A new detector for HPLC has been developed which employs thermospray deposition of the sample onto a moving stainless steel belt with subsequent vaporization or pyrolysis into a flowing gas stream for detection in a conventional GC detector. Most of the present work has employed a photoionization detector (PID), but some work has also been done with an electron capture detector (ECD). The new detector is superficially similar to earlier transport devices in that a moving surface is required and the sample is detected after the solvent is removed. The major unique feature of the present approach is that the sample is vaporized and removed without being deposited as liquid on the moving surface.
