HETERODYNE VIDEO DISTRIBUTION-SYSTEMS SHARING TRANSMITTER AND LOCAL OSCILLATOR LASERS

摘要
A novel architecture for video distribution in the subscriber loop using coherent subcarrier multiplexing techniques is discussed. It is shown that both the transmitter laser and the local oscillator laser can be shared by multiple optoelectronic receivers and that this approach is particularly well suited for a video feeder network connecting the headend to multiple video hubs. Theoretical and experimental results are presented along with design criteria for optimal performance. It is demonstrated that the performance of these systems can be greatly enhanced with in-line optical amplifiers.
