ELECTROMAGNETIC TRANSITIONS IN 11B AND 14C

The 12C(t, α) and 12(t, p) reactions were used in conjuction with stanford particle-gamma-ray correlation techniques to study excited states of 11B and 14C. The following spins, branching ratios and electromagnetic multipole mixing ratios were determined: for the 5.02 MeV 11B level, J = 3 2, transition (5.02 → ground state) : (88.0±2.5)%, δ(E2/M1) = 0.03±0.05 and transition (5.02 → 2.12): (12.0±2.5)%, δ(E2/M1) = -0.05±0.20; for the 4.44 MeV 11B level, transition (4.44 → ground state): δ(E2/M1) = -0.19±0.03; for the 6.72 MeV 14C level, J = 3, transition (6.72 → 6.09) : (2.7±1.0)%; for the 7.01 MeV 14C level, J = 2, transition (7.01 → 6.09) : (1.4±0.7)%; for the 7.35 MeV 14C level, J = 2, transition (7.35 → ground state) : (14±4)%, transition (7.35 → 6.09): (52±5)%, δ(M2/E1) = -0.04±0.09 and transition (7.35 → 6.72):(34±4)%, δ(M2/E1) = 0.07±0.30. The results are compared with model predictions. © 1968.
