摘要
The temperature dependence of bending loss in monomode optical fibres is reported. The observations are explained on the basis of interference between the core guided mode and a ‘whispering gallery’ mode. Implications of this effect in the design of local light detectors and the realisation of fibre optic sensors are discussed. © 1990, The Institution of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.
